Run Lola Run is a Germany film directed and written by Tykwer. Run Lola Run released on 20 August 1998, distributed by Prokino Filmverleih. Its Genres are Action, Drama, Thriller and Crime. Produced by Stefan Arndt(producer), Gebhard Henke(Producer/WDR), Maria Köpf (Executive Producer) and Andreas Schreitmüller(Producer ARTE). Cinematography by Frank Griebe. Actress Franka Potente as main character Lola in the film.

 Lola a bank chairman's daughter. Lola is a jobless lady who fallen in love with a crime man named Manni. Manni, gangs members and his boss sold drugs get 100,000DM. His lost his money inside Train when he almost arrested by police officers. Manni ask Lola to help he get back the money if not, he will been kill by his boss. Lola has spend 3 times chances to change the ending. First chance, Lola help Manni rob the store. She been killed by Police. Second Chance, Lola rob her father's bank. But, Manni been killed by car accident. Third Chance, Lola go to gambling at Casino. Manni chase the homeless man who stolen his bag of money. Manni return the money to boss. Lola wins 100,000DM and Manni's life.

This is my first time watch a film likes Run Lola Run. The film scene is repeat with Lola different choose of her destiny. I watched Lola change and control her destiny in the film. This is like a game over and restart again. The revival won't happened in reality society. This film is not realism film. This film has three different ending in one film. I feel like I had been watched three short film in one day. I won't impress a crime's life. She has a good luck and good skill for gambling in Casino. I wonder Lola lucky number is 20. The voice of Lola. She used her voice to wins the second gambling game match. Lola run to save Manni. Lola cannot change a useless man's life. He able to took care of himself and he destiny. Lola just make everything wrong at the first run and second run.

The introduction of the film is very special editing. All background characters is walking and blurring only the target character are focus shinny. A woman, a police officer and others.

 The movie title Run Lola Run formed by thousands of people. An amazing title formed by human with bird eyes shot. At the opening of the film has a narrative voice introduce and tells the story at the begins. The credits of this film is rare and creative.

Jump Cut has been using in this film from Lola 360 degree rotation shoot to Lola flaskback Mama, Papa, friends and others. The rotation shoot is the Bullet time kind of skill. The scenes is combination of images frame by frames.

Jump cut apply many times in this film. When Lola crash on the side characters, the pictures flashback and told those character's life how they married. The images of discontinuity editing tells the story of the side character's life. Many jump cut film editing techniques are using in this film. Some of the scenes used Jump Cut to express the times too fast. Jump Cut of the watch scene, to the phone scene and end with the clock scene. Many clock scenes are used for make audiences understand the time in the film. Lola only has limited time to save Manni's life.


Lola is a girl has extreme voice can break the glass. Filmmakers used slow motion at the moment she break the glass, or the scenes object drop from the sky. The scenes with slow motion editing from Lola throwing the red phone from the sky accurate fall on the phone base.

 In reality, glasses crush within a second. Slow motion used in sound waves break glasses scenes to let audiences feel more attractive and interesting.

In early film, a person phone called to another character. Filmmakers are used a scene of the main character talk combine with the side character talk on the phone. Normally, the phone call scene are combine two phone talk scene into one. The middle of the scene has a line of the scene did not match to another. This technique apply in the Run Lola Run film. A rare edited scene is combination of three scenes into one. Example as the image below.

The rare scene tells audiences that Lola is very rush and Manni waited and looked at the store or something else. This scene can tells us Lola is care of Manni. But, Manni cannot waited Lola for a longtime. The clock show the time.

Germany environment mise-en scene show the Germany culture. The side character clothes show Germany vintage era and trend during 1998. This film scenes include yellow colour grading editing. A black and white flash back part at the beginning of the story when Manni tells Lola everythings and then Lola explain something she missed a motorcycle.

At the end, Run Lola Run include many film editing skill during 1998. Run Lola Run still had many edited scenes. Yours creative can found more scenes are edited. The edited scene I choose is my favorite part of the particular edited scene. The last one is my favorite compare to all.
